AND THE SOURCE OF LIGHT

We come to life
as beings of light.

It is our source of hope.

On a Christmas Eve, a brother and sister  are faced with their greatest fears:  losing their mother as well as their home.

This is their last Christmas together, and their future is unknown.

Nothing will ever be the same.

After falling down a strange portal that magically appears beneath their Christmas tree, Maggie and Jessie find themselves lost in a dark underground world with no way to get home.

With nothing to help but Jessies flashlight — and his belief that they can.

Jesse’s beam of light splits the darkness and ricochets, splitting again and again into a deafening light-storm that leaves them surrounded by a vast world vibrating and pulsating with light — the Kingdom of Chrystallia, where everything and everybody is made of crystals and minerals.

Chrystallians believe that the light
which created them will never die.

The light is their god.
It is eternal.

They cannot accept that the light is fading. Their world is dying.

Chrystallia and the Source of Light

Chrystallia And The Source Of Light is a life-affirming story about a thirteen year old girl and her nine year old brother who, on the eve of their last Christmas with their dying mother, find themselves on a perilous, magical journey through an underground, medieval world where everything and everybody is made of crystals and minerals — in search of the source of light.

Written by artist and actor Paul Michael Glaser and inspired by the story of his family, Chrystallia and the Source of Light is a story about facing one’s greatest fears — about overcoming, transformation and transcendence.

Touched by darkness, filled with light: Paul Michael Glaser — storyteller

Jake and Paul Glaser
Jake and Elizabeth Glaser

Many people will know P.M. Glaser as actor Paul Michael Glaser. Since reaching celebrity status in the 70’s playing Starsky in Starsky & Hutch, Paul has branched out creatively, becoming a director, an internationally successful artist — and with Chrystallia,  an author.

In the 1980s, Paul’s wife Elizabeth contracted HIV through a blood transfusion after giving birth to their first child, Ariel. She unknowingly passed the disease onto Ariel, and then to their son, Jake.

Ariel passed away in 1988, Elizabeth in 1994. Only Paul did not contract the virus.

Because of the revolutionary treatements that his mother fought to develop, Paul’s son Jake is now a healthy adult. A health-focused entrepreneur, Jake also works internationally as an ambassador and mentor for EGPAF — the foundation that his mother founded to increase awareness of AIDS, and fund research to find a cure to end it.

Paul Glaser claims to have had ‘many teachers’ who helped in coping with the tragic losses in this life.
He first started communicating his philosophy of life in a blog, and later through his unique, often deeply symbolic art and writing.

He once said that he had the choice to either become a bitter, old man or to open his heart to others and to his ability to love — he chose the second option.

With Chystallia, Paul Glaser has incorporated his philosophy into a work of fiction — a magical story about a 9 year-old boy and a 13 year-old girl who are at a cross-roads in their lives, and need to face and overcome their greatest fears.

Now being prepared for realization as an animated film, Chrystallia is a magical, dramatic and emotional story of love, hope and light — where you least expect to find it.

As Paul says:

“May you always find your way home”.
